Oral History Training: Introductory Workshop
OHWA are offering an introductory workshop to introduce participants to the practice and methods of doing an oral history interview.
- Available dates: 24 March and 9 June
- Time: 10:15 for 10:30 start am to 3:30pm
- Cost: $80 non-members, $50 members
- Venue: Northwest room, State Library of WA
The workshop will cover:
- What is Oral History?
- Qualities of a Good Interviewer
- Planning an Oral History Interview
- Interview Ethics
- Hands-on Practice of Recording
- Advice on Recording Equipment.
The workshop will be led by experienced oral historians, including OHWA Chairperson Susan Hall and Dr Alison Atkinson-Phillips.

Our chairperson, Susan Hall, will represent Western Australia on the national committee of Oral History Australia.
Monthly Oral History Drop-In
Following the monthly OHWA Committee meetings, we invite members and anyone interested in Oral History to join us at the Epoch Café, 12noon-1pm on the second Saturday of each month.
These monthly drop-in sessions will be a chance to talk about your latest project or idea, get advice about ethical and technical challenges from experienced members – and to generally meet and get to know others who share a passion for oral history.

- Cost: Free
- Venue: Epoch Café, WA Museum Boola Bardip, Beaufort Street end of campus.
Bursary Plans
OHWA is currently in a sound financial position, and are developing plans for a bursary scheme, which would make available, at the discretion of the selection committee, up to $2000 available each year to support members with project funding or to attend a conference/workshop.
